Glyncorrwg Afan Argoed Dan yr Ogof Cardiff Bay Castle Coch Saint Fagans Cycle rides Coal Mines Caerleon Bridgend

Here are some pictures of one of the cycle rides at Afan Argoed. This ride takes you from the park and up to Cynon then Duffryn where there was a colliery which dumped it's slag up the top of the mountain which you can still see the remains of now. Follow the old railway line up to Cymer, where you can stop at what used to be the main station, and have a meal or a drink in the "Refresh". This station was the the junction for trains coming from the Rhondda, down from Abergwynfi and Glyncorrwg where they would then go to Port Talbot, Caerau, Maesteg and Bridgend, or Briton Ferry for coal. You then have the option of crossing the bridge and carrying on up to Glyncorrwg or turning down to Abercregan and following the old track back down to Pont-rhyd-y-fen (Richard Burton came from there) then cross the foot bridge back up to the park. But don't miss walking through the Japanese Garden. At the park there are also many "proper" bike tracks and many walks up the mountains, all are sign posted and categorised for easy or difficult.

Well worth a visit.
